Apple and Google are setting the benchmarks in their respective areas of strength by dominating mobile OS and creeping up on Microsoft every day in personal desktop OS Market as well.
Windows 10 – Free Upgrade
Microsoft has announced that the new operating system will be a free upgrade for everyone using Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1. for Windows 7 users, you can get a free upgrade to Windows 10 if you make the upgrade within the first year. Microsoft is following in Apple’s approach on this to a certain extent.
Action Centre
Microsoft has added an Action Center that provides instant access to common tasks like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other settings management and has also refreshed the appearance of settings menus with a much cleaner, easier-to-understand UI.
Cortana
One OS for mobile and Desktop
Windows 10 instead of having separate platforms for mobile and desktop, the same OS will run across all devices. Microsoft is working on universal apps that will work on all versions of Windows 10. Word, Excel and Powerpoint will be included on mobile versions of the OS.
